Well, I only is 17 years old, not even picked up on what the true meaning of life is yet. I is the only girl in my family. With my brothers being Jewel and Darl, I find that I am only close with Darl. Ever since my mother past away, life on the farm has been pretty difficult. I find myself searching for life, but yet I find myself getting all caught up in it, and that's where all the trouble be starting. When I first met Lafe, Lafe MacCallum that is, I thought he'd oughta be a nice boy, until he took advantage of me and left me with an unexpected present.

Sister, I can't believe our lives at this point. Since mom just died I feel that our lives will be nothing more than down hill. I'm scared for our family. And I really don't want to spend a long time on that wagon heading to the town of Jefferson.
